“The Lorax”
There are several parts to this – you may do one part, all three, or any two of them
Your choice.
Part 1
Relate the following two quotes from “The Lorax” to the current issue of Climate Change:
1. “I chopped down just one tree, I’m doing no harm!” – the Once-ler to the Lorax
2. “But if I didn’t do them (meaning bad deeds) than someone else would.” – the Once-ler to “himself”
Part 2
This will be more challenging in terms of research online. One of the Humming Fish states “I hear things are just as bad up in Lake Erie” while he is leaving the “glorious place.” – To what is the Humming Fish specifically referring to? Keep in mind the time period (which you will need to include) of the movie and this problem and include the link(s) where you found your information.
Part 3
Response to the “Unless” at the end of the movie. What is your “unless” in the face of climate change?
Reminder – responses are due on Sunday, 04/26! Ms. F

Science Article Review
Welcome back from Break!
Here’s the next Extra Credit assignment. This one is a *little* more involved, so you have until Sunday, 04/26 to complete it.
Use this link: Bio-Flakes PageCast and notice on the right hand side the news articles that are available. If you “hover” over a title with your mouse (don’t click immediately) it will give you a one sentence description of the article. Select one that is of interest to you AND relates to something we have already done in class OR are currently covering.
Now, your assignment:
- Summarize the article – this means IN YOUR WORDS with NO TECHNICAL LANGUAGE! Terms we have used in class are fine.
- Copy and paste the link into your comment.
- One-two sentences explaining how this article relates to a topic in biology we have already covered.
Yes, this is a little more work, but it also means a few more points than the others! Also – you cannot do an article someone else has already done! Keep it short and sweet – a MAX of 10 sentences should be sufficient. Enjoy! Ms. F

Co-Evolution – Plants & Animals
This is an amazing shot that depicts a very common occurance in nature. What types of adaptations by the flower do you see that would attract the bee? What adaptations does the bee have that helps both it AND the flower?
How is this an example of co-evolution?
For EXTRA, extra-credit, describe another instance of co-evolution seen in nature. Think about things around your yard, or outside somewhere. If you find information on the web somewhere as an example, please copy and paste the link in for others to see it.
Remember, you must post by Sunday evening and comments will begin to appear on Monday morning

Image of the Week!

Viola from my garden
You won’t need to research much on the net for this one. In your comment, please indicate what type of dominance this viola is expressing. For more points
add at least one interesting fact about this flower/plant – keep in mind some of the things we’ve been covering in class about seeds and maybe even some stuff we haven’t covered yet!
I WILL post another picture tomorrow that will be a little bit tougher. R u up for it???? Ms. F

Extra Credit – NOT YET!
Okay – so you made it here – WOOHOO!! That was step 1.
Step 2 is to WAIT for me to actually post what you need to comment on! It will be a picture and you might have to do some research on the net – but I promise it won’t be hard! Stay tuned
I might even post an extra-extra credit on Sunday! Ms. F
